Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. She is an actress, singer and dancer. Some of her early Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a collaborator in projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford will next be seen starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust which also features Sarah Paulson. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in the month of March 2023, when he is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford was last seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the country's First Impeachment Proceedings over 100 Years. She was also the lead in two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. She has also been in Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver, now spends time between Los Angeles and New York.
