Iliza Shlesinger is a performer, actor in the field of writing, production and comedy for over 20 years. She is also an author. Perry was born in Chicago to actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first TV roles were two appearances on the show as Jackie Harris (as seen in flashback) on the ABC sitcom Roseanne which was played by her mom. In fear of stress, her parents didn't want to see performing before she turned age 18. Perry claimed that she was too shy to act in high school but began doing shows at Northwestern University as a way to connect with people following her transfer from Boston University.
